Module A Task

Within my curriculum I think I could have my students blog about the assignment and what they think of it. For example, if I were to do an assignment on animal cruelty, I could have my students post information they know and what their opinions are on the subject. I think a blog could help students in many ways. For example, I think for an assignment like animal cruelty, the subject is so controversial that some students may hesitate to raise their hand in class and state their own personal opinion as well as oppose to others’ opinions in the class. With the blog, students can state their opinion within the comfort of their own home and not have to worry about being called out or frowned upon. Also, a blog has a new way of students being able to express themselves. For example, a student can express themselves by picking a font and a colorful background of their choice. Another benefit of blogging is that while not only working on a class assignment, students are adding their own ideas with creative thinking, while using and learning modern technology; such as, the computer, blog sites, learning to understand browsers, and more.

  1. I think it’s a great idea that the students could communicate to each other on the class blog. In this case, the students could even bounce ideas off of each other or help each other with their projects, as well as make sure that no one else is doing it already if it needs to be an original idea. Plus, they could pool their resources online so that everyone would know where to find good information.

  2. I think blogging gives students more freedom when answering questions. They feel less intimidated, especially when the subject is controversial, when talking to others on a class blog. Parents can also see what the child has to do and make sure they have all the materials needed. I agree it gives the child more creative input when they have choices.

  3. I think that is a great idea! That would give the student's more freedom on the assignments but they are also reflecting and thinking of what they need to do!

  4. I agree that blogging gives the student's more freedom on what to say and they have time to think about what they would like to say. You are correct about how student's can express themselves through blogging with the many different backgrounds.

  5. You make some excellent point. I think that students will probably feel more secure in their responses with blogging as well. That way, they aren't put on the spot in class. They have time to go and research the subject to formulate an educated opinion.
